Howl La La Boo 2019

For the past 17 years, Howl La La Boo has been a mainstay program of the Oakley Library that has been solely funded by the Friends of the Oakley Library.

This year, we were able to provide three craft stations, and four activity stations. We were especially fortune to have a great group of volunteers who were able to assist in the lengthy prep for Howl La La Boo and who volunteered their time for the event.

Our hard work has paid off and thanks to the financial support of the friends, in conjunction with the group of volunteers we were able to pull off one of our most successful Howl La La Boo's for the Oakley Library! We were fortunate to have over 117 people attend, which was double our number of our attendees last year! All in all, a resounding success for the Library and the Friends of the Oakley Library.

The Book Forest is coming to the Oakley Library!

On October 24, 2019 the Friends of the Oakley Library partnered with The Book Forest to sell donated books online.

How this works, is that using an app The Book Forest identifies valuable books that can be sold online and the Friends of the Oakley Library will set them aside to be sold. The Book Forest will collect the books that have been set aside and  Friends of the Oakley Library will receive 60% of the profits of any books that are sold. This will help the Friends of the Oakley Library to raise more funds to provide more more programming for the Library.

Harvest Festival 2019

Another fun filled day in Oakley as both the Friends and the Library we out in force spreading the word about the Oakley Library! We were fortunate to speak to over 200 people about Library Programming and the location of the Oakley Library. Hopefully we see many of those we spoke to at the Library for Howl La La Boo and our Season of Author's Series!

Heart of Oakley 2019

We were very excited to engage with the Oakley community at the 2019 Heart of Oakley Festival!

Kids and adults are having fun experimenting with the Makey Makey and learning how closed-loop electrical signals work. We also met with various community members and discussed what our Library offers. We hope to see everyone at the Harvest Festival!
